The persimmons are dyed with rich orange-red, forming a contrast with the dry, ink-colored branches; the magpie is represented with thick ink for the head and wings, leaving the abdomen blank, which is simple and vivid. The branches extend in natural arcs, and the persimmons and magpies are distributed at intervals, with the picture being sparse and dense, which not only has the sense of abundance of but is also full of vitality.

Pomegranate: Because "pomegranate" is a homophone of "everything," pomegranates symbolize "all things go you please," and strings of red pomegranates have the auspicious meaning of "everything is perfect and flourishing." Magpie: "Magpie" is homophone of "joy," and in Chinese culture, magpies are auspicious birds that bring good news, symbolizing the arrival of joyous events. The combination ofpomegranate magpie" corresponds to the painting name "Good Things Happen in Succession," which expresses the good wish for good things to happen in life one another and for all things to go smoothly.
